About This Item

UK,slim 12mo p/back Original,anthology,1st edn. [Paperback Original denotes the first format and its first appearance in print of the book/title.Paperbacks usually follow on from the HB edn,but can be published at the same time as the HB edn,but p/back Originals are either the only format,or published prior to any other format. US p/back 'LORD OF ILLUSIONS' includes CABAL - not in UK p/back edn,Pocket Books, but not until 1995. UK's Hardback 1st edn, Wiedenfeld & Nicolson,London (1985),the US's,Limited HB,1st edn,Scream Press,Los Angeles (1991) in 333 signed and boxed copies and also later,Subterranean Press,2014 in 2 versions: 500 slipcased (with Vols.1(signed) - 5) and 26 traycased (with Vols.1(signed - 5). Sphere Books (UK) also reissued/reprinted this p/back title in 1987 also - these issues are a much more common issue compared to this listing which are scarcer - particularly in a grade as this - this then the TRUE,UK First edition.] NFINE.No owner inscrptn and no price removal from cover.Bright crisp,clean,sharp-cornered,card covers with glossy, colour pictorial artwork by Clive Barker, illustrated front card cover, with author's capitalised, black lettered name and similarly coloured+lettered VOLUME I in a white rectangular panel at top edge of front, along with a Time Out red-lettered review, and black-outlined red-lettered title to panel too; a red triangle to spine's lower front corner with white lettered credit of 'CLIVE BARKER Winner of the 1985 World Fantasy Award' text; a black spine/backstrip without any reading creases and lightly sunned/faded red-lettered title, and white lettered Volume VI and publisher's white illustrated colphon and capitalised, white-lettered name to foot of same, rear cover with stories' red+white lettered straplines.Negligible shelf-wear to edges and corners - no nicks, tears or splits present and almost scoring-free but for both covers with some mininl, superficial scoring/indents,and a couple of laminate wrinkles and an adhesive $ price label to rear cover.Top+fore-edges ubiquitously aged/toned but without foxing/spotting; contents bright, tight, clean, solid and sound - no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corner tips - unread other than my own collation.UK,slim 12mo p/back Original, anthology,1st edn,1-152pp [paginated] includes 7 stories; plus [unpaginated] author's potted biography, title page,a dedication, and a Contents list/table.
Visually the exterior appearance is more than acceptable and even internally,is in an exceptional condition/state of preservation and presentation, for a book of its age and nature, i.e. an ephemeral p/back edn.It is only the minimal, minor faults described that prevents a slightly higher grading overall.Despite them,it really is still an exemplary example for its cleanliness and lack of other detracting faults. In this, the sixth and final volume of CLIVE BARKER'S BOOKS OF BLOOD,five new stories of darkness unleashed.
Quintet (5) horror stories include 'The Life of Death', Hidden in the crypt of the derelict church she found Decay and Corruption in all its terrible glory. But such glamour can prove infectious; 'How Spoilers Bleed', They committed a crime no jury could convict them for. But there were other judges, other punishments. . . 'Twilight at the Towers',Ballard was the perfect spy.A man with all the cunning of an animal.Or was it vice versa?; 'The Last Illusion' (A Harry D'Amour Novella), New York had shown Harry horrors enough for a dozen lifetimes. He thought he'd seen the worst that flesh could suffer. Then the beautiful widow walked into his life, with a husband who wouldn't lie down dead, and all Hell on her heels. And suddenly Harry was face to face with forces that could teach Manhattan a lesson in depravity . . . and 'On Jerusalem Street',After the end,a new beginning: walking the highway of the dead . . . No horror library is complete without them. Please contact seller, for correct shipping/P+p quotes - particularly ALL overseas customers - BEFORE ordering through the order page! N.B. ALL buyers please note, stocks' actual shipping/P+p costs are adjusted and any difference is refunded, after order's receipt and before the order's despatch, especially if the item(s) are offered either P+p included/FREE. ** N.B. US/Canada customers please be aware: Standard AIRMAIL postage from UK to these destinations can now cost more than the price of the book! If speed is not of the essence, then Economy rate is recommended - at approx. anything from a 1/3rd to 1/2 of the standard US AIR quote/rate - sometimes arriving sooner than the 42 days - but not always. **
