Frontispiece portrait and 21 further illustrations, mostly photographic, throughout the text. A better than very good copy, the binding square and firm with bumping to the spine tips and corners, the cloth and gilt are bright and fresh. The contents, with a small previous owner's name to the front endpaper, are otherwise clean throughout. Complete with the rubbed and nicked dustwrapper that is a little marked and toned to the spine and panel edges. Not price-clipped (8s 6d net to the lower front flap). Scarce in dustwrapper. An avid mountain climber, the author was a scholar and ordained priest who reached the summits of Monte Rosa, the Matterhorn, Mont Blanc and Presolana.
