About This Item

Denver: World Press, 1956. First Edition. SIGNED by the author. 8vo. 236 pp. Bibliography. Yellow cloth with red lettering in yellow dustjacket with black lettering. Near fine (dampstaining along rear cover edge; small bump on lower front edge) in near fine dustjacket (spine lightly faded as is common with these yellow dustjackets; ink line through price but readable at $5.00). "The most complete biography of this noted gunman to date, printed in a small edition, which was exhausted immediately after publication and hence was scarce from the beginning" - Six-Guns #2101. Clay Allison (1841 - 1887) was a cattle rancher, cattle broker, and sometimes gunfighter of the American Old West. He fought for the Confederacy in the Civil War. Allison had a reputation for violence, having survived several one-on-one knife and gunfights (some with lawmen), as well as being implicated in a number of vigilante jail break-ins and lynchings. - wiki.
