About This Item
Seely & Co., London, 1895. Book. Near Fine. Half-Leather. 88 page analysis of the work of painter and printmaker Claude Lorrain. Illustrated with numerous black and white photo-reproductions, and four lushly printed etchings. Handsomely half bound in white leather, with stamp-printed boards. Binding appears original (or at least very old) but does not match descriptions of this same title offered by other dealers. Binding is tight, but has some chipping to the foot and several points on the spine, as well as some soiling, consistent with age. A previous owner's bookplate is affixed to the front pastedown. Top edge is not gilded. Very light foxing to some of the interior pages. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
