Cirque de l'étoile filante was published in 1938 by Vollard and features a series of
lithographs depicting scenes from the circus. Rouault's expressive and bold style
captures the drama and emotion of the circus performers, portraying them with a
sense of melancholy and depth. The book is considered a masterwork of
modernist illustration ans is highly sought after by collectors and art enthusiasts
alike. The book comprises of 17 aquatints printed in colors and 82 woodcuts, on
Montval laid paper, bound in the original cloth chemise and matching slipcase. It is numbered 129 on the justification page and is one of a total
edition of 250. Small tear on the upper left corner of the original cover.
