Buenos Aires: Editorial Losada, S.A., 1960. First Edition. Very Good/Good. First edition, first state of this collection of poems from seminal and controversial Chilean poet, Senator, diplomat, and Nobel Laureate, Pablo Neruda. Containing 100 sonnets in four sections: 'Maňana,' 'Mediodía,' 'Tarde,' and 'Noche.' With original unclipped jacket. Jacket is in overall good condition but with some creasing, toning, chips, rubbing, and tears. Bound in cream cloth over boards with red stripes and gold lettering on the spine. Edges of cloth somewhat darkened, boards slightly bowed, and gently bumped corners. Small postage size bookplate from former bookseller on front free end paper. Illustrated endpapers. With five double page classical patinings in full color. The interior is lightly toned, otherwise clean and clear - image pages are fine.
