About This Item

Whitman Publishing Company, 1939. Hardcover. Acceptable. From the Big Little Book series. Sweet little book, an 3.5' x 4.5', and inch thick. WELL LOVED. Paper cover over cardboard. Faded, very scraped along all edges. Dented corner tips and spine ends. Top of spine strip is worn and torn from top to about half inch down the spine edges. Crimped page corners, and page 9 is ripped and torn. Cocks. Twists. This book is in delicate condition. Cracking in hinges. All pages are intact, although age-toned. Dings on the text-block all the way around. All page signatures remain glued to spine strip, however, they remain fragile and we have deigned from opening the book all the way. Thorp McClusky (1906 – 1975) was an American writer known by fans of the pulps for his fantastic horror and science fiction stories for Weird Tales, Amazing Stories and other magazines, as well as children’s adventure novels marketed to boys such as Chuck Malloy, Railroad Detective and Jimmy Kean And The Radio Spies. During WWII he wrote exclusively for the U.S. Army. Extensive web searching has been unable to give us any insight into the illustrator, Joseph R. Kress. 292 pages.
