Bound in full red morocco, ribbed gilt decorated spine, covers ruled in gilt and blind, spine and cover panels blind tooled with a repeating crest, gilt dentelles, all edges gilt, by French binder Lortic. "Marcelin Lortic, binder and gilder; b. 26 Feb. 1852; d. 2 Sept. 1928; apprenticed and collaborated with his father, Pierre Marcelin Lortic (1822-1892); he and his brother Paul (b. 30 June 1853) succeeded their father in 1884; worked in conjunction with his brother until 1891 [as Lortic fre`res] and then alone [as M.
