About This Item
New York: D. Appleton and Company, 1896. The detective stories by Arthur Morrison (1863-1945) featuring his investigator Martin Hewitt are often compared to those of his contemporary Arthur Conan Doyle. This is a Near Fine copy of the First American Edition, number 191 of the publisher's "Town and Country Library." An uncommon title. Blue cloth binding, decoratively stamped in dark blue and red; titling on the spine in gilt. Clean text; iii, 267 pages, with 14 pages of publisher's adverts in the rear. There is light fading to the spiner, some minor rubbing at the margins; one corner has a crease due to a bump. Despite this, the book remains quite attractive. No dustjacket; in an archival plastic protector.. First American Edition.. Decorative Cloth. Near Fine/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
