About This Item
Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1908. First. Hardcover. Red cloth stamped in gilt, 225 pps. Illustrated with 5 pen and ink drawings and chapter headings. Collection of five essays (four from Atlantic Monthly and one from Evertbody's Magazine). Two have Christmas-related titles ---"Christmas and the Literature of Disillusion" and "Christmas and the Spirit of Democracy"--the first of which has little to do with the holiday and the second of which at least is in the from of a dialogue between Scrooge and Bob Crachit. Tight, very good copy, gilt bright, spine a bit rubbed. Some tide marking to the edges of the text block.
