Modern acid-free dyed flax over boards with gilt-tooled leather spine label. Contents: Sermon I. The Sinfulness and Misery of Man -- Sermon II. The Helplessness of Man -- Sermon III. The Power and Love of Christ -- Sermon IV. Faith in Christ -- Sermons V -- X. The Believer a new Creature, wherein that Character is largely described -- opposed to that of a careless Sinner -- and contradistinguished from that of a Formalist -- Sermon XI. An earnest Address to the Careless -- the Formal -- the new Creature. In 1746 Samuel Walker (1714-1761) was appointed curate of Truro, where he experienced an evangelical conversion. His popular sermons emphasized evangelical theology. Very scarce. In Good Condition: lacking lower corner of title page with partial loss of imprint; old staining on some pages; light foxing; otherwise, clean and tight.
