About This Item
Long Beach: Christian Anti-Communism Crusade, 1983. Ephemera. A hefty trove of mailers, 8.5x11 inches, generally very good but for fold creases. Most are unnumbered, bearing only dates; rather than list hundreds of dates here, we would be happy to check against any list you might provide. The main concentration of issues are from the late 1960s to the 1970s. Earlier issues combine the function of fundraising and reporting on "research" into various communist schemes. As the reportage became more voluminous, it was thought that the fundraising portion of the newsletter was unseemly, so from October 1969 onward, the fundraising section of each newsletter was separated out as a distinct dated leaflet, generally a single page; the 8-page newsletter itself (which was the part sent to libraries, etc.) addressed subjects ranging from the Indonesian mass killings of communists to the insidious influences of the Black Panther Party. Also included are 38 issues of the group's News Letter, in various formats, spanning the years 1957 to 1964.
