About This Item
First edition, a modified, London-published of The Visions of Hung-Siu-Tshuen, and Origin of the Kwang-Si Insurrection which had been published in Hong Kong in 1854. Chipping with some loss of cloth to ends of spine. Bumping and softening to corners. Bookplate removed from front pastedown. Occasional soiling to page faces, else reasonably fresh and sturdy internally. Now in custom morocco leather slipcase.
The most important contemporary work on Hong Xiuquan (洪秀全) and the Taiping Rebellion, the book is a translation of Hong Rengan's narrative (洪仁玕, referred to in the book as Hung-Jin) and covers the first years of the rebellion and his early life and work alongside Hong Xiuquan.
