About This Item

Beijing: August, 1987. Conservatism with Chinese characteristics A portrait of Thatcher, titled "The World's Woman of Steel", presented to the Prime Minister by Lin Hanxiong, the Chinese Minister of Construction, during his visit to the United Kingdom in the late 1980s. The artist, Xue Linxing (b.1951), made a similar gift for George H. W. Bush. Watercolour painting with calligraphic ink inscription on 124 x 65 cm sheet, mounted as 225 x 75 cm hanging scroll with decorative blue paper, manuscript title label on verso. Housed in original card storage box, lid with contemporary manuscript title. Scroll in fine condition with couple of small stains, box lid with several splits.
