About This Item

London: Chatto & Windus, 1982. 215pp. Book clean, square. Spine firm, bright gilt title there-on. Plain blue boards very good. Tiny foxing flecks to textblock head, mild tanning to edges, previous owner's name to ffep., else leaves clean and unmarked. Minor edge-creasing to text-printed dustjacket. From the jacket flap: "In an apartment block in a certain town there is an office where a group of young people work from 8.30 in the morning to 7 at night, six days a week. Their way of life, at any rate during office hours, is dedicated and austere . . . these young people are terrorists. A crime only becomes real when it is reported by the media: hence its victim must be someone famous. The target assigned to the narrator is a national figure, now 80 years old . . . " 20 chapters. "Accompanied by two stories, 'Eustace' and 'The Prowler'; in these the author skilfully creates a darkened world in which threatening implications point to sinister conclusions." Book weight approx. 375g. (This book will post as a small parcel within Australia only, and postage charge will be reduced accordingly). First Edition. Hardcover and Dustjacket. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - (approx. 20.25cm x 13.25cm).
