About This Item

New York, NY, U.S.A.: Random House, 1943. First Edition First Printing . Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. Masha. Enchanting children's version of the birth of Christ, complemented by the lovely pastel illustrations of artist Masha, a "mystery" illustrator of children's books in the 1940s who wanted to remain anonymous. A FIRST EDITION, First Printing, from 1943, this oversized hardcover has a pale gray cloth-wrapped spine with decorative paper paste-downs edged in gilt over the front & rear boards. Condition is Good: very clean inside, sewn binding secure (though front & rear hinges have been reglued). Pages creamy off-white with mild tanning. Cute bookplate on ffep, former owner's name inside front cover, & old gift inscription on ffep, else unmarked. Heavy rubbing to extremities, heavily bumped corners, tearing & fraying to both ends of spine. But the illustrations are lovely & unblemished, perfect for framing or religious crafts projects if you want to separate them (they show up on Etsy a lot). Get them all here together with the beautiful story! Our photos show the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same day shipping on all orders received by 2pm weekdays (Pacific time); later orders, weekends, & holidays ship very next business day. Sorry: book is too large for any expedited domestic or international shipping due to high postage costs.
