One of a series of book designed to acquaint children with their peers in other parts of the world, here, the Hawaiian Islands. Orig. published in 1944, before this territory became a US state in 1959, this is a later printing (no additional dates in book), with an introductory note by Hawaiian delegate J. R. Farrington which emphasizes the Hawaiian children's cultural diversity, but similarities to children on the mainland. In 80 pages with Hawaiian glossary in rear, lavishly illustrated throughout. This slim hardcover book has bright turquoise-blue cloth covered boards with a colorful front paper pastedown that has a small crayon mark under rainbow & very mild edgewear. Condition is Near Fine: exceptionally clean & bright, binding tight & square, pages creamy white with very mild tanning to outer edges, else unmarked. No DJ.
