About This Item
Mill-Cliff Publishing Co, Dayton, OH, 1989. Hardcover. Fine Condition. Book An annotated listing of 590 items "which were printed, or which are presumed to have been printed, in Ohio before 1821," with an index to Ohio printing points and index to printers, publishers and presses. This is one of 900 copies of the updated printing of the 1941 original compiled by the Ohio Historical Records Survey. An additional 100 numbered copies were issued in a "limited deluxe binding" with a morocco spine. Although this is not one of the deluxe bindings, it is, nonetheless, a very attractive binding. It is not a facsimile of the original, since it has been completely reset in new type. From the Publisher's Preface: "The life and existence of the 'Imprints' series was typically relegated to that forbidden section of most libraries called 'Reference Only,' a graveyard for most scholarly works. The 'shelf-life' of the 'Imprints" was further reduced by the fact that they were usually printed on pulpish paper with paper covers. We at Mill-Cliff Publishing felt that a need existed to bring these 'Imprints' and the information they possess into the hands of the current generations of used book dealers, librarians and those who pay our bills; the book collectors. We have endeavored to use a readable type style, give it an enduring binding and paperstock, and price it within reach of the aforementioned customers." First edition of the work in this format and binding, and/or set or series. Size: Quarto (11-13"). 243 pages. Item Type: Book. Text block is tight, bright and unmarked. Fine hardcover quarter-bound in black buckram on the spine over wine-red cloth on the sides. Title in bright gilt on the front cover and spine. Corners are sharp with the slightest of wear at the bottom corners. No dust jacket (as issued). Quantity Available: 1. Category: Books on Books; United States; 1980s; Reference.
