About This Item
Toronto: Toronto Willard Tract Depository. Very Good. Hardcover. 319 p. 18 cm. Sound binding in gold, cloth-covered boards with gilt titles and colour stamped floral illustrations. Slightly cocked. Some wear to the corner tips and spine ends, including a couple of very tiny tears. Board and spine edges are somewhat rubbed. Both the upper and lower board have overall soil. Text block edges are lightly foxed. Previous owner's name and addresss on the front free endpaper. Quote written on the first blank page. Inside pages are generally clean and bright. An Isabella Macdonald Alden Christian themed novel, and part of her Chautauqua series. Although not dated, the manager's name, A.G. Watson, on the title page dates it to 1888-1891 when he was employed by the publisher. The book is illustrated with at least half a dozen full page engravings, as well as chapter heading and ending engravings. This is a scarce Canadian imprint of this work by "Pansy". .
