This copy of the Limited Edition of 500 copies of "Charles Clinch Bubb and The Clerk's Press" - A Catalog/Bibliography of the Exhibition of the Works of The Clerk's Press at the University of Toledo and Kent State University was published by the two universities in April1986. The booklet, which measures approximately 6 x 8 inches, contains 52 unpaginated pages describing, in bibliographic fashion, the 71 printed works of Charles Clinch Bubb, at his Clerk's Press, that were being displayed at the exhibition. The text of the catalog is by Sally Bauhaus Allen; the catalog's design is by Thomas Durnford of the University of Toledo Publication Office. The booklet is enclosed in a tan paper cover with black printing on the front. The booklet is in fine condition.
Quoting from the Introduction of the booklet, "...Between 1908 and 1919, Bubb produced on a hand-operated press, now vanished, a series of remarkable scholarly and typographic works. These included descriptions of church traditions and ceremonies, translations from the Greek poets, and reprints of works by a group of poets centered around Ezra Pound. These 'Imagists', as Pound named them, were favorites of Bubb, and in his own way he helped to ensure that they became more widely known and appreciated in Northeastern Ohio. ...Bub Bubb went much further than simply printing. He produced limited numbers of his very attractive works, he colored many of them by hand, and he used a wide variety of unusual print devices to enhance the attractiveness and typographic interest of his publications. He then took copies personally to libraries where he thought they would be read, appreciated, and kept…"
