About This Item
Oyster Bay, NSW: St Francis Community, 2008. Paperback large trade, very good plus condition, minor edgewear. 328 pp. This book is an edited version of a course of lectures at the Academy of the Word, the teaching arm of the St Francis Community. Franciscans do not believe in living lavishly while other Christians live in poverty. Dr Alex Reichel set up the Academy after leaving the University of Sydney, where he was Associate Professor of Applied Mathematics, specialising in the Theory of Science. At the university, he was for six years the founding director of the Centre for the Human Aspects of Science and Technology (CHAST). These lectures explain how the Holy Scriptures help to develop Christian faith. He outlines different approaches to interpreting the Scriptures, and presents his seven-step Biblical course that restores spirituality. Foreword by the Bishop of Wollongong, Peter Ingham. Two appendices explain the powerful Jesus Prayer, and how the Prayer Meeting Apostolate operates.
