About This Item
LEIBER, Fritz. The Change War. With a New Introduction by John Silbersack. Boston: Gregg Press, 1978. 8vo, xviii 189pp. Red cloth with spine stamped in black and gold. A fine copy without dust jacket as issued. Signed by the author, Fritz Leiber.
First edition, being a collection of 10 stories which had originally appeared in magazines (1958-1967). Six had been featured in a 1961 Ace Double paperback edition titled The Mind Spider and Other Stories. Four of the stories included in this edition appear for the first time in book format here. A wonderful collection of short stories by one of the masters of science fiction set in the world of his Hugo Award winning novel, The Big Time, and following events from various aspects of the time-spanning, intergalactic war between the Spiders and the Snakes. All Gregg Press titles were printed on acid-free paper, sewn and bound in library-grade cloth bindings stamped with a color panel and gold lettering, and issued without dust jackets. Most of their print runs were under 500 copies, with no title ever selling more than 1,250 copies.
