Bought in from Chambers by The Folio Society and re-issued with their imprint on the title page; available from 1975/76 as a 'Special Publication' to members.
Hardback – full brown morocco with gilt title and decoration, top edge gilt, marbled endpapers, and a sewn-in ribbon pagemarker – housed in a custom slipcase. [18], 1432pp. 8.5 x 5.75 inches approx. (215mm x 145mm).
Foxing to peliminary and final few pages; foxed/spotted to page edges; gilt to top edge scratched and marked; shelf wear to bottom edge of page-block; ribbon pagemarker split and frayed where it folds under the lower edge of pages.
Overall, showing wear from usage and longterm shelf storage otherwise remaining a reasonably nice copy – and quite lovely in its attractive binding.
