Neat, early ownership mark on front pastedown of George Wayne M.E. Skillful repairs to three plates, with very small loss on one plate mainly to blank and fold line area. Pages lightly browned in clean and bright order throughout. A rare early work on mine surveying.

Excellent condition. An important Second World War poster promoting women in the wartime workforce, produced in 1942 by the War Manpower Commission. At the time, "Women in the War" was one of the most widely distributed images of a woman laboring in war production, unlike the "We Can Do It" poster, which was produced only for Westinghouse plants during a few weeks in 1943 and did not become iconic until the 1980s. Giovanni Fiammelli was a 16th-century Italian engineer who focused on mathematics as the foundation for his research and planning. While little is known of his life, he published one of the most important mathematics treatises in 'La Riga Matematica'. In this book, Fiammelli discusses his theories on trigonometry and the use of math in military and civil engineering. Fiammelli explains his techniques in using mat to determine water depths, measure long distances, and give context to architectural planning.
This 1605 first edition is highly rare and highly valuable! It contains desirable in-text geometric figures.

All edges gilt, endpapers lined with multiple coloured snail marbled paper on combed marbled patterns. Oblong folio (455 x 335 mm). Spine-ends minimally frayed. The personal copy of Monsieur François Philippe Voisin (1821-1918) (= Voisin Bey), his name stamped in gilt on front cover, a French engineer and from 1861 to 1870, the chief engineer of the Suez Canal Company during the construction of the Suez Canal, together with its director Ferdinand de Lesseps. The 48 plates show 76 collotypes (numbered 1 through 74 and 2 unnumbered collotypes), they depict views, portraits, seascapes, and the inauguration itself and showing on the other hand the canal (and its surroundings) on its entire length. One plate with small loss to lower outer corner (far away from image) else fine. Fall River, Massachusetts: E. J. Perry Machinery Corp, 1950. Very Good. A group of eight industrial photographs in 8 x 10 and 10 x 8 formats. Blank on verso. Minor blemishes, nice condition. E. J. Perry Machinery Corporation was an industrial processing machinery manufacturer. Six of the eight photographs have visible plates from the company on the equipment - the other two fit based on type (many of these appear to be industrial drying equipment). A nice set of images of a Fall River, Massachusetts company. According to the April 23, 1945 issue of "Steel, the Magazine of Metalworking and Metal Producing" the company moved from New Bedford to Fall River. One of the images has the Fall River address on it, hence we've dated these images to circa 1950. The 1936 New Bedford directory shows a number of machinists in the company employ.
