The story of the Southern Pacific Railroad system that dominated the West Coast from Oregon to Los Angeles, Texas, and the Southwest, and of its earliest component, the Central Pacific Railroad. 631 pages of text, approximately 900 photographs and illustrations (7 in color), and maps. 121 of the photographs are by the noted railroad photographer, Richard Steinheimer. Near fine in almost very good dust jacket with shallow chipping to the top of the spine panel, several short edge tears, and rear flap almost detached.
