Caldwell, Idaho: Caxton Printers, 1944. First Edition. First printing. Octavo. Blue cloth hardcover; dustjacket; 442pp; frontispiece and seven unnumbered leaves of photographic plates (halftones). Slight rubbing to cloth at base of spine; text gently toned at margins; single ink bracket in margin of p.86, else free of markings or significant wear; a Very Good+ copy. In the original dustwrapper, unclipped (priced $5.00 on front flap), faded on spine and with a few closed tears to margins, just VG. Biography of William Carey Brown (1854-1939), based on the General's correspondence, diaries and personal writings, with special focus on his frontier service and in the Texas Border War.
