Clean text, front hinge cracked, several pages have edge tears, one page is torn at a quarter of the way through . 20 chapters, 11 illustrations. Mainly stories that take place in Texas, of horses, Native Indian Americans, and trumpeteer in the US Army. Musical notations at the beginning of each chapter, words set to the notes of calls such as First Call, "Fall in, ye poor devils, as fast as ye can, And when ye get tired, I'll rest ye again". .
