The set is housed in a brown paper covered slipcase titled in gilt with a color illustration of a Geisha mounted on front panel. One of the world's important collections of later Japanese art, beautifully presented in a handsome and scholarly catalogue designed by The Minneapolis Institute of Arts. Filled with color and b/w prints, as well as numerous fold-outs. This most valuable and comprehensive representation of Japanese painting contains an extensive bibliography, glossary, and index. Slight discoloration along fore-edge of slipcase, and closed tear along upper deck. Spines of bindings are slightly sunned with gold lettering partly faded on second volume. Slipcase and bindings in overall good+, interior in near fine to fine condition.
