Among the highlights noted were the following: "French manuscript and printed music of the late XVIIth and early XVIIIth century, mainly operas and ballets, including 30 works by Jean- Baptiste Lully and works by Campra, Colasse, Couperin, Desmarets, Destouches, de la Coste, collections of Motets by Lalande, and works by other composers of the period; and a manuscript gradual and antiphoner written by Philidor l'Aisné for the Chapel Royal of Louis XIV; books on travel and topography, including Krusenstern, Voyage round the world, 2 vol. in 1, 1813; English and Continental literature of the XVIth to the XIXth century, including "three- decker" English novels; St. Anselm, Opuscula, (Strassburg, c.1500); Cicero, (Opera), 10 vol. in 5, Narcissus Luttrell's copy, Venice 1583; Leonardo da Vinci, Trattato della pittura, 1651; a manuscript on vellum, "Catalogue of the five conquerors of this island", 13 coloured coats-of-arms, (1606); Notes and queries, the first to fourth series, 1850-67; G. Valla, De expetendis, et fugiendis rebus opus...de arithmetica...de musica...(etc.), Venice, Aldus, 1501; works on antiquities and natual history, including Graevius, Thesaurus antiquitatum et historiarum Italiae (et Sicilae), 20 vol. in 24, 1704-25; Gmelin, Flora sibirica, 4 vol., 1747-69; Orme, Essay on transparent prints, 1807.
