First Printing with matching First Printing dust jacket with all first printing points: the words "first Printing on copyright page, book cover and dust jacket with front cover image showing the cat with a white bow tie and a snowball in flight behind his tail; the rear cover of both showing list of six books written on chalkboard in the Beginner Book series priced at $1.95, front flap of dust jacket introducing The Cat in the Hat, and the rear flap of dust jacket listing seven reviews of The Cat in the Hat. Bound in glossy illustrated boards, the book is in very good condition with minor soiling/wear/wrinkling on a few pages (see images). Dust jacket has some minor soiling and edge wrinkling; bottom of dust jacket spine has about 1/8" missing (no text loss); dust jacket preserved in protective Mylar cover.
Synopsis
The Cat in the Hat is a children's book by Dr. Seuss, featuring a tall, anthropomorphic, mischievous cat, wearing a tall, red and white striped hat, and a bowtie. He also carries an umbrella. With the series of Beginner Books that The Cat inaugurated, Seuss promoted both his name and the cause of elementary literacy in the United States.
