American authors L Sprague de Camp and Fletcher Pratt originally wrote this novella for the fantasy magazine Unknown in 1941. This is the first edition in hardback of 1950. The third story in the Harold Shea series, telling of fantastical adventures in a sci-fi world in which magic coexist with our own world, and worlds based on mythology, fantasy, legends, and stories can be reached by aligning the mind by a system of symbolic logic. In this novel, the protagonist visits the worlds of Samuel Taylor Coleridge's 'Kubla Khan,' and Ludovico Ariosto's the 'Orlando Furioso.' An excellent copy in its unclipped dust wrapper. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally excellent with only minor shelf wear and a slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. With a small bookseller's sticker tot he front pastedown. The dust wrapper is unclipped and smart with some shelf wear and a slight sunning to the spine, as well as a minor chipping, particularly to the head of the spine. With a faint tidemark tot he head and tail of the spine to the dust wrapper. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean. Near Fine
