Royal octavo (9 1/4" x 6 1/4") bound in original publisher's blue cloth with green label to spine with gilt lettering to spine in original publisher's pictorial wrappers. Foreword Roberto de Oliveira Campos. Inscribed by author. First edition. Along and substantial life of the first of the post-1964 military Presidents, amply documenting his unusual talents for political maneuver and negotiation. An interesting foreword by Roberto Campos notes how Castello Branco "skillfully managed to blend the disciplinary and the transformational elements-repression and reform," thus enlisting for the revolution the strong backing of the urban middle class. Condition: Inscribed on front end paper. Corners and edge gently bumped. Jacket corners and hinge corners lightly chipped, spine sunned, fold over flaps rubbed, price clipped else very good in like jacket.
