About This Item
Were there really fairies at Cottingley? Joe Cooper sheds new light on a photographic mystery that captured the imagination of the British public in the years following World War I. Over 100 years ago two girls claimed they saw –and then photographed – fairies in their garden. Thus was born one of the great mystery stories of the 20th century, attracting Arthur Conan Doyle amongst others to investigate. Cooper first met the two girls – Elsie Wright and Frances Griffiths- in 1976, and spent over 6 years working with them to tell the truth. This book is the insider view of a strange and twisting tale which is all revealing about the human desire to believe.
An excellent copy. Pages are bright and tidy. No marks, creases or browning. Possibly unread. Cloth boards are tight and clean. DJ is unclipped and unmarked with no real noticeable wear. All now covered in professional clear removable book cover. 179pp with index, B&W illustrations, sources
