Green boards with decoration of flowers & foliage in red & black on front with gilt & red titles. Black posy vignette on rear board, faded titles in black on spine. 72pp with 16pp publisher's catalogue of 'books for young people'. Illustrated with frontispiece & many other line drawings throughout the text. A moral tale of a boy's cruelty & a girl's kindness, which all comes out alright in the end. Contemporary prize inscription on front endpaper from Guthrie Public School dated 1899. Inner binding cracked at the front, also little bumped, marked etc. as you might expect for its age.
