Londion: Chatto & Windus, 1898. Hardcover, publisher's blue cloth wirh comic vignetter in black on front cover and spine lettered in gold. 639pp., Illustrated with color frontispiece and 12 full page black and white plates, plus numerous vignettes in text. Originally published as "England under the House of Hanover" (1848, 2 vols., several editions, reproduced in 1868 as Caricature History of the Georges) This copy is a later printing. A political and social history of the Hanovarian monarchs of 18th and 19th century England told through the employment of contemporary and unflattering artwork. A 32 page publisher's catalog dated March, 1898 appended. Reference library (?) stamp on front endpaper and penciled dates written in margins on several pages. Cloth lightly rubbed at extremities. No previous ownership marks. A good+ copy.. Reprint. Hardcover. Good+/Not Issued. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
