Original green cloth boards with bright gilt and red embellishments, rubbed on points with small loss at spine ends. Name written inside front board and price written in red ink front endpaper, a few minor blemishes rear panel. Top edge gilt, rear hinge gutter webbing exposed top half only, still tightly bound and a handsome copy now in protective plasticine cover. Second edition stated. Illustrations including frontis with tissue guard by Clifton Johnson all present. ; MCN33948; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 319 pp .
Synopsis
Thoreau's account of his travels and explorations on Cape Cod is considered his most genial book, and one of his most appealing. Published in 1865 after his death, Thoreau's CAPE COD remains an indispensable guide to the area.
