About This Item

Philadelphia: J. B. Lippincott. Very Good in Good+ dust jacket. 1960. Third Printing. Hardcover. 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 320 pages; 1960 J. B. Lippincott. HC/DJ 3rd printing stated in the redesigned jacket with wraparound art by George Sottung and publisher's $4.95 price on the bottom front flap; jacket indicates 2nd printing as usually found. This printing from the same year as the 1st Lippincott printing. Book is snugly bound and clean in original blue cloth lettered in gilt; a small nick with trace fray to the top front corner. Trace dust dulling to cloth at board edges. Jacket has a small chip missing from the crown of the spine panel and scrunch fray which has been archivally mended with acid free paper on the blank reverse of the jacket. Light foxing to the rear flap edges and mild soling to the rear panel. Curiously there is a light damp ripple the length of the spine panel but with no consequence at all to the cloth. The lack of any nick to the jacket at the top front corner corresponding to the nicked cloth also suggest this jacket was likely married; so while this is the version of the jacket generally found on the 3rd printing, there is a good chance it is from another copy. Still a solid and clean early dust jacketed printing of Miller's classic. VG/G+ thus  .
