Philadelphia & New York: J. B. Lippincott Company, 1960. Early Edition. Hardcover. Very Good in Very Good dust jacket. 21 x 14.5 cm. Octavo. 320pp. Blue cloth in dust jacket. This is an early, but not first, printing with the copyright page stating "Third Impression" and the dust jacket stating "Second Printing". Jacket illustrated by George Sottung. The four corners of the jacket are clipped; original price of $4.95 remains present. Light chipping to the jacket, pin prick hole to back of jacket. Small closed tear to front cover of jacket ~ 1.5 cm. Previous owner's name on front free endpaper. Evidence of a bookplate or library pocket having been removed from rear fixed endpaper; no other indication of it being a library copy. Winner of the 1961 Hugo Award for best Novel.

Synopsis

A Canticle for Leibowitz is a post-apocalyptic science fiction novel by American Walter M. Miller, Jr. , first published in 1960. Based on three short stories Miller contributed to the science fiction magazine The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction; it is the only novel published by the author during his lifetime. Considered one of the classics of science fiction, it has never been out of print and has seen over 25 reprints and editions.
