A year later, his Candid Camera was the first of the A.B.C. network's television shows, with ordinary people becoming the surprise stars. Later, the show found spots on all three major network schedules, became a feature film and was formatted in other media. The tag line, "Smile, you're on Candid Camera! " became part of the culture.
