About This Item
New York : Grosset & Dunlap, 1942. Hardcover. Good/Good. Vintage book. Good book in fair dust jacket. Jacket has much wear and chipping, now in new removable protective cover. Sturdy red cloth covered boards with back print on the front and spine. Gift inscription from a 4-H Club on front end paper, dated Feb. 1942. Grosset and Dunlap hard cover with dust jacket, printing approximately 1941, 343 pages. 12mo (5.5"" x 8.25"") The back of the dust jacket has the Madison Square Books logo - this was a line of lower priced hard covers brought out during World War II. This advertisement, together with the Feb. 1942 gift inscription, leads me to think the book was printed in 1941. 2nd in Philo Vance series, originally published in 1927. Filmed in 1929 with William Powell as Philo Vance.
