The book is clean, covers attached, secure binding, previous ownership writings on the front paste-down, otherwise unmarked internal pages, crisp inner pages despite minor fading, no stains, a single page (pg 99) found with a corner page tear, no edge chipping. Some light visible surface and edge wear to the outer boards and spine, small edge tear to the map with an archival tape repair, nearly invisible. Please review pictures for greater details. Free USA Shipping >>>> Gaspard, Baron Gourgaud (14 September 1783 – 25 July 1852), also known simply as Gaspard Gourgaud, was a French soldier, prominent in the Napoleonic wars. He was born at Versailles; his father was a musician of the royal chapel. At school he showed talent in mathematical studies and later joined the artillery. Gourgaud published his Campagne de 1815, in the preparation of which he had had some help from Napoleon. However, Gourgaud's Journal de Ste-Hélène was not published till the year 1899.
