About This Item

Greater Springfield Council. "The Ozarks Area". Boy Scouts of America. (Springfield, Missouri). E. C Hadley. Printer and Publisher. Fair Play, Mo. No date. (Circa 1920's?)., 1920 "String tied brown wraps with front cover head and shoulder view of Boy Scout in uniform (by Holland) and lettering in black. Rear cover printer name and address. Pages not numbered (Some 28 pages). Size about 4" wide by 6 1/2" tall. Boy Scout song book from Camp Arrowhead in Marshfield, Missouri (Oldest operating Boy Scout camp west of the Mississippi from what info I have been able to find about the camp history). 45 songs in all with 19 Camp Arrowhead Songs, 12 Fun Songs, 14 Religious and Patriotic Songs. Lyrics only with the tune to be used mentioned at the top of the lyrics. The song "Old McDonald" has one verse as "Old McDonald had a farm-Eigh, Eigh, Oh-And on this farm he had a still-Eigh, Eigh, Oh-With a Drip, Drip here-and so on. I guess those early Boy Scouts were a hard drinking bunch--at least in the Ozarks. The book mentions Sapolia and Pearline in one song--cleaning products long gone. I am guessing 1920's as a date for this book but it could be earlier. A rare early Boy Scout item from the Ozarks. Light general wear; covers with a couple of creases. Nice copy. GOOD+ Language: eng Language: eng 0.0 Language: eng Language: eng Language: eng". 1st Edition.. Soft cover. Good/No Jacket.
