About This Item

New York: Rizzoli, 2019. Rizzoli Classics Edition. Boldly signed by the author / photographer / actress Diane Keaton in gold ink at the half-title. As new hardcover in dust jacket. 8 3/8” x 11 3/8”, 319 pages. From the publisher: “California Romantica is an expression of an ongoing love affair between film star Diane Keaton and the Spanish Style house. First published in a larger format in 2007, this edition re-presents the popular book for a new generation at a more affordable size but with no diminishment of the beauty and charm of the original.” And from Diane Keaton’s introductory essay: “So, here they are, twenty homes from the perfect world for you to see. Here they are, presented with love and respect in anticipation that you too will feel the ache of their romance.” Beautifully illustrated with interior and exterior photographs of homes designed in the California Mission and Spanish Colonial styles, featuring the work of George Washington Smith, Wallace Neff, Richard Requa, Lilian Rice, Paul R. Williams, Joseph Plunkett, Arthur Kelly, Thomas Bollay, W.C. Tanner, Mark Daniels, Bret Hofer, Leo Carrillo, and Carl Lindholm. Among the magnificent seaside estates, canyon villas, and courtyard bungalows shown is Keaton’s former home in Beverly Hills, which she thoughtfully restored with noted designer Stephen Shadley, and for which she has been recognized as a committed preservationist. Diane Keaton won a Best Actress Oscar for her role in Annie Hall (1977) and was nominated for Best Actress in Reds (1981), Marvin’s Room (1996), and Something’s Gotta Give (2003). She also won Best Actress Golden Globes for Annie Hall and Something’s Gotta Give, and was nominated for Looking For Mr. Goodbar (1977), Reds, Shoot the Moon (1982), Mrs. Soffell (1984), Baby Boom (1987), Manhattan Murder Mystery (1993), and Amelia Earhart: The Final Flight (1994).
