A history of the Roman Empire by Roman historian and senator Cornelius Tacitus, from the reign of Tiberius to that of Nero (AD 14-68), both portrayed as tyrants who caused fear in their subjects.This was Tacitus's final work; it is considered to be his greatest work and to this day an important source for the understanding of the history of the Roman Empire in Tacitus's time.Two volumes in uniform calf bindings, each featuring additional uniform title page 'Classici Romanorum Scriptores. Volumes VI C. Cornelii Taciti Opera' and 'Commentarii Perpetui in Classicos Romanorum Scriptores Volumen VI'. Volume II consists of a careful and extensive commentary of the 'Annals.'Uncommon edition edited by Georg Alexander Ruperti, Lutheran divine. In uniform full calf bindings with gilt tooling to spine, titles in gilt to red and black morocco spine labels, renewed endpapers. Externally sound with some shelf wear and rubbing to boards and spine, loss of 'vol. II' spine label, joints cracked, holding firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean. Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
