Octavo. v, [3, tables], [4, chromolithograph ads for Heald's Business College], 192, 16 [ads] pp. Illustrations throughout (mainly of products). Publisher's blind-ruled purple cloth with gilt cover lettering. Some wear to spine extremities and tips but overall a very good copy, clean and tight.Contains much useful information of the business environment of the West Coast in the early 1870s as well some fine ads for various manufacturers. It also contains two first book appearances of Mark Twain pieces [BAL 3348] and other contributions by Ambrose Bierce and Brett Harte.
