NY: Funk & Wagnalls, 1888. Hardcover. VG+. ...written to those girls, who have not time or inclination to think and study about the many important things which make up life and living." Copyright date is 1887, this is the 1888 printing. 16mo, navy cloth with gilt titles on front cover, 139 pages. VERY GOOD+ with slight rubbing to the spine head and tail and corners, slightly "dusty" top page edge, internally clean and tight. The Tuesday evening gatherings spent together in "Practical Talk" - which later grew into the first Working Girls' Society. Dodge was a prolific writer; her papers are in the Sophia Smith Collection at Smith College. A very nice copy of this rare book.
