About This Item
Cleveland, OH, U.S.A.: Cleveland Museum of Art, 1999. Book. Near Fine. Illustrated Card Covers. 11" x 9 1/8". 138 pages, superbly illustrated in colour and black and white. Published in conjunction with the exhibition of the sam name, 1999. Three generations of the Bugatti family made important contributions to the visual arts, each distinctive and none following closely in the footsteps of another. Carlo Bugatti, father of Ettore and Rembrandt, established himself as a designer firstly of original and beautiful furniture and later of similarly original metalwork. Ettore was a self-trained automotive engineer who eventually became a successful manufacturer of racing, sport and touring cars, whilst Rembrandt became famous in his brief lifetime as a sculptor. Substantial illustrated essays on each of the Bugatti's; text and translation of the biographical essay on Carlo Bugatti by L'Ebe Bugatti, his grand-daughter, which otherwise exists as a typescript in the Victoria and Albert Museum; checklist of the exhibition..
