Octavo (20cm); purple paper-covered boards, with titles stamped in gilt on spine; dustjacket; [vi],293pp. Fine in a Near Fine dustjacket, price-clipped and gently spine-sunned, with some trivial wear to extremities, and a tiny tear to lower front joint. Murdoch's twelfth novel, short-listed for the Booker Prize in 1970.
Synopsis
Iris Murdoch was born in Dublin in 1919 of Anglo-Irish parents. She is the author of 26 novels and several works of philosophy. Among her many honours and awards are the CBE, the DBE, the James Tait Black Memorial Prize, the Whitbread Literary Award and the Booker Prize. She died in 1999.
