About This Item

Agrinde Publications : distributed by Simon & Schuster, 1978-01-01. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 1978 signed and inscribed first edition, Agrinde Publications (New York), 11 3/4 x 11 1/4 inches tall hardcover in publisher's unclipped dust jacket, brown paper-covered boards over beige cloth spine, gilt lettering to spine, copiously illustrated with mostly full-page or two-page renderings of Davidson's photography, 167 pp. Inconsequential rubbing and edgewear to covers. Nicely inscribed, dated and signed on the half title page by the artist, Bruce Davidson (b. 1933). Otherwise, a near fine book - clean, bright and unmarked - in a dust jacket with slight marginal/spine age toning but which is nicely preserved and displayed in a clear archival Brodart sleeve. Note that this is a heavy and oversized book, so additional postage will be required for international or priority orders. ~SP38~ [3.5P] The first major survey of the compelling photo essays of noted Magnum member Bruce Davidson, this well-illustrated monograph includes work from the 'Widow of Montmartre,' 'The Dwarf,' 'Brooklyn Gang,' 'England and Scotland,' 'Sicily,' 'Black Americans,' 'The Bridge,' 'Los Angeles,' 'The New Jersey Meadows / A Trip West / Topless Restaurant,' 'Welsh Miners,' 'East 100th Street,' and 'The Cafeteria' series. Davidson, whose photographs have been widely exhibited and published, is known for photographing communities usually hostile to outsiders.
