About This Item
First edition from 1946 of No. 2 in the Collins New Naturalist series, British Game by Vesey-Fitzgerald. The book has green buckram boards with gilt lettering to the spine and some spotting to the front and rear inner boards and facing pages. There are 81 black-and-white photos and 28 beautiful colour reproductions of paintings by John Gould, Landseer, Peter Scott etc. The unclipped dust-wrapper, showing the price of 16s. net, is badly battered. It has been taped at the spine and there is some loss to the edges and corners, and a 2" approx gap in the middle of the spine. The book has no marks or inscriptions internally, but a couple of small stains to the boards and a sunned spine. The colour illustrations, in particular, are very impressive.
